Gas prices continue to go up. One of the key questions Dashers all over the United States have. Is it even worth it? Will the industry survive? Should I just go apply for another job?
We are frustrated and uncertain in our future.
Dashers are gig workers. To “deliver or not” we decide ourselves. Each Dasher sets up his/hers own rules.
As of 03.09.2022 I recommend all Dashers in Austin market to raise their minimum per delivery to $10+. In my opinion, any order below $10+ does not make sense.
If you use an electric car/fuel efficient car your minimum probably can be different.
Yesterday (03.08.2022) I declined a lot of low paying offers both on Doordash and UberEats. Just look what type of orders the apps were sending me.
Doordash likes to hide full pay-out. In the area where I drive: Cedar Park, Leander (north part of Austin). I rarely can see orders above $8. They are there. You just need to multi-app and “cherry-pick”.
As a Dasher you must know your market. Be ready to make predictions about pay-outs on Doordash. Here is an example:
The order came as $8.75. It had a couple of items. Good restaurant. I took the risk and accepted. Final pay-out turned ok.
If you decide to risk and accept anything under $10. I recommend only orders from $8.50 and higher.
Note: accepting any order less than the minimum you have is always a gamble.
